NYPD BLUE - ALL OF IT!!
NYPD Blue is without doubt one of the most influential, iconic drama series of the 1990’s. Critically acclaimed and winner of 7 Emmys, 4 Golden Globes and numerous other awards, Seasons 5 and 6 are to be released for the first time on DVD on 10th December in two 6-disc box sets, courtesy of Medium Rare Entertainment.
Right from the start, NYPD Blue set itself apart from other cop shows with its gritty storylines set against a backdrop of urban decay in New York City. Initially the show courted controversy with its liberal use of adult themes and strong language, however it was soon recognised that this no-holds-barred approach was entirely in keeping with the show’s uncompromising style.
NYPD Blue was one of the first shows to employ a slow burn storyline across an entire season, drawing viewers away from the scene of the crime and deeper into the cast’s lives and loves. The 15th Precinct squad weren’t perfect crime fighting heroes, but complicated characters with their own problems and flaws.
All remaining unreleased seasons will be released two seasons per month starting in December and finishing in April 2013. More details to follow.
